The Westermo MCI-422 is a versatile device that serves both as a compact 4-port switch and a 2-channel RJ45-to-fiber media converter. As an industrial 4-port 10/100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet Fiber Switch, it features a 3.2 Gbit/s switching fabric with non-blocking store and forward technology, ensuring efficient data handling. In its converter mode, the MCI-422 operates as a 2-channel 10/100 TX to 100 FX media converter, equipped with remote Link Loss Forwarding (LFF) technology for enhanced communication reliability.
Configuration of the MCI-422 is straightforward, utilizing DIP switches to set the device to either switch or converter mode and to configure the LFF. The unit supports dual redundant power inputs with a broad DC range of 10 to 60 V, and it includes an alarm relay that triggers an alert for port or power events, enhancing operational reliability. The MCI-422 is available in two versions to cater to different fibre optic needs: the MM version supports multimode fibres for distances up to 2 km, while the SM version supports single-mode fibres for distances up to 30 km. This flexibility makes the MCI-422 an ideal choice for various industrial applications requiring robust and adaptable network solutions.
